The Cutest Little Tennessee Town

A lesser known but beautiful city in Tennessee. Home to the University of Tennessee Volunteers, great restaurants, and unlimited outdoor activities. Knoxville is most known as a college town, but its small town feel has me wanting to go back already. Our trip to Knoxville was short but sweet. Like donut sweet. The weather wasn’t great so we are going to need to go back and try the outdoor activities.

Wondering what to do and where to stay when traveling with kids? Here are some of our highlights from our last trip.

After researching hotels, here were my top 5 choices:

  • The Oliver - $$$$ A boutique hotel, right in heart of the city. It’s in the perfect location and full of charm. If you can break away from your kids for a few minutes, you must check out the speakeasy. Is it just me or do you enjoy finding these hidden gems too?

  • The Tennessean- $$$$

  • Graduate Knoxville- $$$ This hotel takes you right back to college. It doesn’t hurt that it is literally steps aways from UT’s campus. Any Peyton Manning fans out there? The Graduate has a bar, Saloon 16, that Peyton Manning helped create.

  • Courtyard/Residence Inn Downtown- $$ New hotel in a great location to downtown

  • Hyatt Place Knoxville/Downtown $$ This hotel is in a great location and looked really nice. We didn’t end up staying here but we might try it next time.

Restauants we tried

  • Emilia- Authentic little Italian restuarant on the square. We love this restaurant. This dish was the special, but check out the size of these truffles!

  • Northshore Brasserie- This was my favorite meal but the restaurant is not near downtown. It’s also not the most kid-friendly restaurant but they do have half bottles of Veuve so there is that. Cheers!

  • Duck Donuts- Made to order warm donuts, yes please!

Things we want to do with the kids on our next trip

On my wish list is Blackberry Farms. If you haven’t ever heard of this place, you should check out their site and just dream about a trip there. I’m not sure I’ll ever make it but if you can afford it, I’ve heard it is amazing.

If you think we missed a Knoxville “must do” please let us know so we can check it out next time.
